Although having spent over half his life living in metropolitan Atlanta, in his book, Fusion of Cultures: The Spirit of ArgyllAmerica™ Revealed, he has “come home” to his rural roots with an urban consciousness.  Gilchrist is ATL smooth with Carolina fried green tomatoes charm.

Gilchrist’s career has taken him appreciatively to numerous states and industries, working in a variety of management and consulting capacities over several decades.

He founded BRANDideas, LLC, a branding creation, development and implementation organization.  Its first intellectual property, ArgyllAmerica™ derived from the former Argyll Colony in America, is a cultural brand that was the genesis for writing the book.

Gilchrist is a contributor to highly reviewed PBS documentary, Voices Over The Water, a fascinating documentary about the Scottish Diaspora in the United States, exploring their struggles and triumphs, and the various voices, all seeking a sense of identity and belonging.

Gilchrist gave a talk at the first annual Celts in the Americas Conference in Antigonish, Nova Scotia Canada on multiculturalism among descendants of Scottish Highlanders, descendants of Gaelic speaking African-Americans and Native Americans in North Carolina’s Upper Cape Fear River Valley.

Gilchrist has also spoken at various community venues, academic campuses, and festivals throughout the Southeastern United States.

Gilchrist is currently working on a screenplay drama, which is loosely based on his book and other related sources.
